Focus on California
Why a Forum on Energy and Environment before the Primary on June 7th?

We need detailed answers from all the candidates on the questions which matter most, Energy and Environment.  Then, we need to ask them to commit to an agenda which will move us into a sustainable economy, ensure the well being of all Americans, and bring peace to us and the world.

Instead of waiting to see if promises made to us are kept we resolve to work for change directly, in cooperation with others.  To this end, we are presenting programs to solve long term problems to be carried out locally.

The focus for these proposals rests on well documented failures on the part of government to carry out their responsibility to care for those who served our country.  Money was available but withheld. These failures impacted the most vulnerable among us.

Instead of waiting to see if promises made to us are kept we resolve to work for change directly, in cooperation with others.  To this end, we are presenting programs to solve long term problems to be carried out locally.

Every major issue under discussion today changes when energy and the environment are in the equation. The candidate who is elected must adhere to the Constitution, serve the people, and keep trust with all Americans.

We strongly believe sustainability solves problems which were caused by a corporate culture focused only on making money.

Why Santa Barbara?

Santa Barbara was one of the original spark plugs for the Movement, starting in 1969, and still is today.

Who, the heck, are we?

All but one of us are grandparents.   Some of us began working together in the 1990s from a common concern on issues of social justice and the impact of pollution on human health and the Earth. See About for the story.

We began our discussions for the Forum hoping we could find a candidate who could be trusted.  We still hope this will take place.  But Americans must be ready to take local action to solve problems if this hope is not realized.
